Lions 2013: Scots Outnumbered by New Zealand Born Players

As you can imagine, the Scottish people may be a little, well, disappointed with the choice of players for the Lion 2013 Tour, with Warren Gatland picking only 3 men from his homeland. And, believe it or not, there are more New Zealand born players in the squad than Scots. In the squad there are also players from South Africa, Israel, Tonga, and Samoa.

Sean Maitland, born in New Zealand, who normally plays for Glasgow Warriors, will be playing against his brother, Quade Cooper, who will be playing for Australia.

Lions 2013 Squad Picked

The squad for the 2013 Lions tour of Australia has been picked. They will be led by Sam Warburton, who was also the captain of the Welsh team in the 2011 Rugby World Cup. Other players picked for the squad include Leigh Halfpenny, of Wales and Dan Cole, of England. The ex-Ireland hooker, Keith Wood, expected the bulk of the squad to be made up of Welsh players, and it appears he is right. The squad is made up of 15 Welsh players, 3 Scottish players, 8 Irish players, and 10 English players.
